Adytum brings together ancient fossil, natural clear quartz, two crossing arrows and an original language of light within a contemporary sculptural composition centred on the idea of the innermost sanctuary — the place within that remains sacred.

The name Adytum comes from the ancient Greek adyton — the innermost and most sacred part of a temple, a space not open to everyone. A place beyond the visible threshold.

Entirely handcrafted in Bulgaria on a solid wood panel, the artwork is structured around a circular symbolic field crossed by two arrows. Their intersection marks the centre of the composition, while a small Orthoceras fossil, pieces of natural clear quartz, metallic elements and individually painted symbols transform the surface into something reminiscent of an ancient ceremonial object, a map or a fragment of an unknown sacred architecture.

The circle forms the inner boundary of Adytum.

It encloses rather than separates. It defines a space within a space — an interior that exists beyond the exterior world.

The two arrows cross over this field like two lines of passage. Their meeting point creates a central axis, suggesting both entrance and protection: the possibility of crossing a threshold, but also the existence of something beyond it that is not immediately revealed.

At the upper centre of the work rests a small natural Orthoceras fossil.

More than 400 million years old, Orthoceras carries the physical presence of deep geological time within the composition. Once a living marine creature, now preserved in stone, it becomes a fragment of an unimaginably distant world — a material memory held across hundreds of millions of years.

Around the circular field, pieces of natural clear quartz catch and reflect the surrounding light. Their crystalline transparency creates a deliberate counterpoint to the dark surface of the work and to the ancient density of the fossil — stone formed through time meeting crystal and light.

An original language of light appears around the inner circle through individually hand-painted markings. These symbols belong to the visual language of the artwork, allowing their meaning to remain open, intuitive and personal.

Adytum is not an image of a temple.

It is a fragment of the place hidden at its centre.

More than a wall artwork, Adytum exists as a contemporary symbolic artefact — part painting, part sculptural object and part imagined relic. From a distance, its geometry, crossing arrows and central field dominate the composition. At closer range, the fossil, crystals, markings, metallic surfaces and individually handcrafted details begin to reveal themselves.

It speaks of the inner place that cannot be entered through force or explanation.

The place we enter only by going within.

Every Adytum is entirely unique. No molds, prints or reproductions are ever created, making the work impossible to recreate exactly.

Craftsmanship

Each Adytum begins with a solid wood panel before every layer of pigment, texture and symbolic expression is built entirely by hand.

The two arrows are individually positioned across the central composition, while the Orthoceras fossil and pieces of natural clear quartz are integrated one by one into the artwork.

The circular geometry, metallic details and original language of light are all created by hand, preserving subtle irregularities as part of the character of the work.

The meeting of fossil, crystal, wood, metal and hand-painted symbolism gives Adytum its particular material presence — bringing together elements formed across vastly different measures of time within a single contemporary object.
